The Hidden Mile  /  Bringing your dog

Bringing your dog

Dogs stay free here. No pet fee, no deposit, no surcharge on the cleaning — and nobody minds the mud on the way back in.

Plenty of hill properties say pet-friendly and mean pets tolerated, for a fee, in one room at the back. We mean the dog is a guest. There is no charge for bringing one, and there never has been.

Why this is a good place to bring a dog

The honest bits

We are a hillside property, so there are steps. There is no fenced garden — if your dog will not recall, keep the lead on. And we are a small place: if another guest already has a dog staying, we will tell you before you book rather than after you arrive.

Common questions

Do you charge extra for pets?

No. Dogs stay free — there is no pet fee, no cleaning surcharge and no deposit. Just tell us you are bringing one when you book so we can put you in the right room.

Can my dog come into the cafe?

Yes, on the terrace. That is where most of our guests eat with their dogs anyway, and it is the best table in the house.

Is there somewhere to walk them?

Straight out of the gate. The lane and the deodar above the property are quiet enough to walk a dog early in the morning, and the traffic on the main road is light.

Which room

Either style works with a dog. The Valley Room at ₹5,500 has a balcony, which dogs tend to appreciate more than their owners expect. The Macramé Room at ₹4,000 is quieter and further from the terrace, which suits a dog who barks at footsteps.

Tell us about your dog

Size, temperament, whether they have done a long hill drive before. We will pick the right room and have water waiting.
