The bit everyone is actually asking about

If you have travelled as a couple in India you know the question behind the question: will we be turned away at check-in? A great many hill properties refuse guests carrying a local ID, and they do not say so until you are standing in the lobby with your bags.

We accept local IDs. Bring a valid government photo ID — Aadhaar, passport, driving licence, voter card — for each guest, which is what the law requires of us, and that is the whole of it. Nobody will ask you anything else.

Why this place suits two people

The short version is that there is nothing to do, and that turns out to be the point. There is no market to walk to, no promenade and nothing open at ten at night, so an evening here is a balcony, a hot drink and the valley going dark in front of you.

The Valley Room has the balcony and the long view down the valley at ₹5,500 for two. The Macramé Room is the quieter one at ₹4,000. Three nights or more, Sunday to Thursday, is 15% less.

After dark there is no town glow on this stretch of the ridge at all — the thing guests mention most, and not available in Mussoorie at any price. In winter there is usually a bonfire, weather permitting.

Getting here

Sixteen kilometres above Mussoorie, twenty minutes short of Dhanaulti, about 300 km from Delhi. Drive up through Mussoorie and Landour and keep going — every route is on how to reach us. Tell us roughly when you will arrive and the kitchen will be ready; the road is slower than the map thinks.
